Honoring Pava LaPere

Welcome to the 73rd issue of Impact Curator, a fortnightly newsletter that I, Anika Horn, lovingly curate for all those who believe in transforming their community by amplifying the impact of the change makers around them. Was this newsletter forwarded to you? Sign up here!

Hello Reader,

Last Tuesday, as we were wrapping up a team meeting, my colleague Nick looked up from his screen in disbelief and said "Pava is dead." I glanced over and caught the headline "EcoMap Technologies cofounder Pava LaPere has been found dead."

I thought it was a prank. A sick one. A voice in my head said "That's not funny."

Unfortunately, it was no prank. No joke. Not funny.

I've been talking with my friends and fellow ecosystem builders. No-one can make sense of this devastating tragedy.

Pava started EcoMap out of her dorm room at Johns Hopkins University at the age of 21. Over the last five years she turned her idea to a $7 million startup that has helped changemakers map ecosystems in communities around the world. Pava was a passionate advocate for equitable access to opportunity. She was also a wonderful human being who woke up each day to make a difference in the world.

Meet Pava LaPere

I had the honor of interviewing Pava in episode 1 of season 6 to talk about the importance of mapping and language in ecosystem building.

I will be back in your inbox in two weeks with the regular format of this newsletter.

In camaraderie,

Anika
